Project Goals and Objectives

Project Area 79 is a large-scale habitat improvement project on Couse Creek which will be implemented in phases over the course of several years. 2020 construction consisted of PALS (Post Assisted Log Structures) only. 2021 construction will include PALS, one BDA (Beaver Dam Analogs), and boulder structures. The goals of the project are to reconnect flood channels and promoting overbank flow in order to increase off-channel habitat and add structural elements to increase geomorphic and hydraulic complexity, improve sediment sorting, reduce sediment and large woody debris transport time, and to add woody debris to the stream.

Structure Construction Elements

PALS, BDA's, ELJ, boulder structures, riparian planting, invasive vegetation removal.
