Project Goals and Objectives

The goal of this project is to better understand the applicability of Low-Tech PBR techniques in intermittent and ephemeral prairie stream systems. We are experimenting with local materials and providing learning sites for local landowners and conservation practitioners who are interested in improving stream and riparian health. The project also includes work towards beaver restoration and outreach around the role of beaver in prairie systems.

Structure Construction Elements

Structures vary depending on stream site, landowner goals and grazing. One rock dams, zuni bowls and rock rundowns have been installed. In systems where beaver recolonization is a desired outcome PALS and BDAs have been constructed.
