Project Goals and Objectives

Former shooting range was cleaned and removed leaving behind a stark landscape and oversimplified small stream channel. Goals of project were to: increase channel complexity, increase base flows, increase flora and fauna, attract beaver and potentially allow for opportunistic wetlands to form and add another source of recreation to the area.

Structure Construction Elements

4-6 inch cedar log posts were spanned perpendicular to the stream channel at varying intervals. Mud, posts, willows, maples and other vegetation were put in-between the posts and mattress on the backside of the dams. Mud (with heavy clay) was also put in between the posts and on top of the vegetation and packed tightly.
