Project Goals and Objectives

1. Attempt to aggrade incised headwater stream channels to restore floodplain functions, wetland complexes, diverse and high-quality habitat for Topeka Shiners and other stream/wetland flora and fauna and monitor many facets of channel changes. 2. Evaluate the effectiveness of beaver dam analogs to achieve the objectives in north Missouri grasslands.

Structure Construction Elements

6-8 foot cedar posts were set across the channel and up the banks in the 24 designated locations, they were stuffed with small trees, branches, leaves and other materials, dirt was laid over the structures and packed.
