Fat Cow Stringer is a small, moderate gradient tributary drainage to Strawberry Meadow and is part of the Templeton Grazing Allotment that has been closed to grazing for 2 decades. Even though grazing no longer occurs within the meadow due to the dry conditions of the system and historical grazing practices, the formations of headcuts have decreased meadow characteristics, predominantly through the loss of mesic species. The goals of the project were to prevent further unraveling of the system and to maintain desired species and active meadow boundaries.
A total of 22 structures were implemented consisting of 10 BDA’s, 8 hybrid structures (tight PALS), and 4 PALS. Rock was used near headcuts and BDA's were used to back water and drown out the force of the head.
