The goal for this project was to increase channel complexity in order to create an increased amount of better quality fish habitat. Additionally, the structures will help with the retention of the increased amount of sediment being mobilized in this area since the 2021 Boot Leg fire.
Opportunistic felling of trees killed in the 2021 fire was employed to create long stretches of wood loading which at high flows will accumulate into wood jams down stream. BDAs were constructed in areas where floodplain activation was achievable creating pools for fish habitat as well as increasing lateral connectivity.
