Schaeffer Meadow is a long, narrow, high-gradient meadow that is one drainage to the south of Strawberry Creek, and is a tributary to the South Fork Kern River. Its high gradient and often dry conditions make it very vulnerable to headcutting, and it contains numerous active and arrested (through checkdams and wood installations) headcuts throughout. Therefore the objectives were to further arrest headcuts, promote aggradation and increase floodplain connectivity.
A total of 46 structures were implemented in Schaeffer meadow, consisting of 25 BDAs, 15 PALS and 6 hybrid structures (tight PALS)
