The goals of this pilot project were to evaluate the range of geomorphic response to BDAs in three small creeks in the upper Grouse Creek watershed, in order to develop a larger restoration effort in 2017. The broad management goals were to extend the duration of flow during summer, increase mesic resources for sage-grouse and increase forage production for a working livestock operation.
We built BDAs using locally available material which differed between each creek and included: juniper from previous juniper removal efforts, sagebrush and willow. This project was also one of our first attempts using post-less BDAs.
