Project Goals and Objectives

The project objectives are to treat a deeply incised reach adjacent to a meadow. Aggradation of the stream channel, riparian, and avian response and groundwater recharge are project objectives. The stream is intermittent and the goal is to extent the period of flow.

Structure Construction Elements

A series of five post and weave BDAs without an effort to "seal" them . Upstream of the BDAs, a series of 5 log jams constructed by felling of streamside trees and manipulating them into place with grip hoists. The structures have been very stable since installation and have not captured significant amounts of sediment. They are fairly high in a dry, small watershed and post installation analysis indicates that there is little stream power under typical conditions to perform restoration work.
